Iron Horse/Bigfoot days

Iron Horse/Bigfoot days

Just a pic of me back in Bigfoot days, with two of the members of my former band, Iron Horse. Pic was at U.of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Pa. in '72, with equipment I bought just 3 months after we formed Iron Horse (took us 6 months!) in Sept of '70. IH was my first "locally" (2 states, 17 co) pro band, just 31/2 years after I started playing bass. ( used to practice 4-6 hrs daily during those years. Guess it paid off. Iron Horse shared several venues with a band over 2/3 of the state of NY, a band called The Elves (later Elf), with Ronnie Dio on bass and vocals. Since we both played bass, we became good friends. I enjoyed watching him rise to world fame, first with Richie Blackmore (of Deep Purple) and Rainbow, then Dio and Black Sabbath. I last talked with him over an hour backstage at the Winterland in SF, while he was on a Rainbow world tour (Long Live R&R). He was a fantastic singer and a very good guy and friend. I miss him still. Check him out on YouTube, and all the admiration he still gets.
