Tell us what it means to you to be a fan of Haley Reinhart?
Supporting Haley and being on this journey with her throughout the years has been such an amazing ride. I’ve watched her blossom into such a passionate artist and achieve goals starting at such a young age. Seeing her visions come to life and dreams a reality is truly inspiring. As one of her Haliens, I feel so fortunate to look up to someone like Haley who leads a life without any fear, but rather a calming independence that shows her the light. To me, fans who have stuck by Haley and share her talents with others is what makes Haliens an incredible and loyal fanbase. We’re all about reaching our full potential in life just like Haley. There is a mutual love and respect between us.
Tell us about the first time you saw or heard Haley’s music? Where was it and what do you remember?
The first time I ever heard Haley sing was when she performed “Bennie and the Jets” on American Idol and instantly won my heart. The first time I heard Haley’s own music in public was her first single, “Free” at a movie theater during the summer of 2012. I was walking inside and heard it playing through the speakers. I had to stop and listen to the whole song of course. I’ve also heard Haley’s cover of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” on the radio a few times, including the Extra Gum commercial on TV, which she won a GOLD record for!
How do you show your fandom for Haley?
From watching Haley perform on Idol, I decided to make a fan account on Twitter in 2011 to show my love and support for her. Social media is great because it keeps you connected with artists you follow and keeps you up to date with their music or any projects. Through Twitter I do my best to share any Haley related news that come up by posting pictures or videos with others. Every supporter of Haley’s deserves to see her live in concert, so I try to let people know if she has any shows. It makes me happy reading people’s comments from around the world wanting her to come perform where they live. I’m so proud of everything Haley has accomplished so far in her career and I always had faith in her.
What in your mind makes Haley Reinhart stand out from any other artist?
No one will ever compare to the way Haley makes me feel with her music. Her voice is so soothing and pure that it could heal wounds, fix broken souls, and fulfill empty hearts. She’s not like any singer you hear on the radio nowadays. Haley’s sound is unique and she has always stayed true to herself from the beginning. She also uses her platform to sing at charity events and raise awareness about important causes. People who have met Haley before know that she is the sweetest and most down to earth person with the biggest heart. She’s not afraid to speak what’s on her mind, fight for what she believes in, and encourages everybody to know their self-worth. I admire the beauty of her mind, thoughts, and way with words. These are just some of the many reasons why Haley is very special to me.
What currently is the most played song in your music library?
5 years later and “Free” is still the most played song in my music library. It was Haley’s very first single, so I’m not surprised since it was the only song I listened to repeatedly until her first album, “Listen Up!” was released a few months later that year. Her song, “Better” is my anthem and comes in at a close second.
What’s your favorite song from Haley Reinhart and why?
Each song of Haley’s is extraordinary in their own way, but if I had to choose a favorite it would be “Listen” off of her second album because of the message it stands for. This song is all about coming together to take care of the planet that we live in and appreciating the beauty of it. I first heard this song when it was featured in a Showtime series, “Years of Living Dangerously” in 2014. I’m so glad that she included it in her album because I loved it from the start. The chorus of her harmonizing is heavenly and I always blast it in my car. To be fair though, any song Haley sings is bliss to my ears.
What is your favorite album from Haley Reinhart and why?
This question is like asking a mother who her favorite child is. Both of Haley’s albums are my babies and I honestly love them equally. “Listen Up!” will always have a place in my heart since it’s Haley’s first album and I’ll never forget how emotional I was when I held the physical copy in my hands. Her second album, “Better” was released with no record label and I give her praise for working so hard on it. When people have different favorite songs, you know Haley created masterpieces with both albums. I respect Haley for taking her time to develop each album and explore her creativity. She truly believes in making people listen up and feel better with her music that heals. I admire her songwriting skills that have meaningful lyrics many people could relate to. No words to describe how excited I am for new Haley music this year!
Haley frequently collaborates with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox… what’s your favorite cover by the group and Haley so far and why?
My favorite PMJ cover would have to be Haley’s cover of “Creep” that they recorded in Europe. Fun fact: Haley’s “Creep” video was the very first take! On YouTube it has over 31 million views at the moment and is PMJ’s most viewed video. When I first met Haley in 2015, I spontaneously played this song on my ukulele while she sang along and it was such a beautiful moment that I will always remember. A couple months later that year I saw her perform “Creep” live with Postmodern Jukebox up front at a sold out show in my hometown and the tears were real. Her performance was absolutely stunning and I was on cloud 9 for sure that night.
Haley voices the character of Bill on Netflix’s F is for Family? Did you ever picture Haley being the voice of a little boy?
In 2011 I actually tweeted that Haley should voice a future cartoon character someday and it’s crazy to think that it came true. I know Haley enjoys doing silly accents for fun and her raspy voice fits perfectly as a little boy. For Halloween last year I dressed up as her character from the show and Haley thought that it was amazing. My best costume yet.
What’s your favorite episode so far?
I loved the episode, “Bill Murphy’s Day Off” because we got to hear Haley’s throwing up voice and it was the funniest thing. I definitely binge watched the whole season the day it was released on Netflix. Her character tends to get into trouble a lot no matter how hard he tries not to. I may be biased, but little Bill is the cutest animated character I’ve ever seen. There were so many hilarious and iconic scenes from Season 1 that it was hard not to laugh. I also couldn’t help but picture Haley every time Bill talked.
What are you most looking forward to in Season 2 premiering May 30th?
I’m so excited for Season 2 that I’d put myself through a wall! Before Season 1 was even released on Netflix, I created an account on Twitter/Instagram called FYeahBill about 2 years ago when Haley shared the news that she was going to make her voiceover debut in F is for Family. On that account I like to pretend to be her character, Bill. That account has gained a few thousands of followers, which is still growing now that Season 2 is coming at the end of May. I enjoy sharing photos and video clips from the show with other fans and letting people know that Haley voices little Bill. I even got a retweet from Bill Burr one time, which was awesome because he’s one of the creators of the show and Haley’s character is modeled after him as a kid in the ‘70s. Not a lot of people know I own that account, but I’m pretty sure some Haliens could tell it’s me. The cat is officially out of the bag. I can’t wait to see my favorite redhead again in Season 2.
How do you stay connected with your favorite artists?
Twitter has always been my go to when I want to keep up with my favorite artists and see what they’re up to. I’ve been a Halien for 6 years now and it’s truly the best feeling that my idol knows who I am. When I first met Haley, she recognized me from all the interactions I’ve had with her on Twitter throughout the years. I also follow Casey Abrams who is extremely talented and good friends with Haley since Idol. She’s featured in some of his songs and it makes me happy to see them play at some shows together. Haley’s a busy girl, but she still manages to find time to check up on her Haliens on Twitter even though she’s not too hip on technology. I adore her so much for genuinely caring about her fans and know that she’s a keeper.
What’s your favorite piece of Haley Reinhart memorabilia?
Haley released a song in 2014 called “Show Me Your Moves” and dedicated it to her Haliens. The song was also featured in a Chase Bank commercial. She had a campaign where people could donate money to help out for the making of the music video. One of the prizes for donating was an autographed picture of her dressed like an alien goddess because the theme for the video was outer space. It’s been hanging on my wall ever since. Watch the music video on YouTube if you haven’t already! It’s out of this world.
What was your first concert ever, the last concert you’ve seen and what will be the next?
My first concert ever was the Jonas Brothers at a county fair way back in 2007. The last concert I went to was at the House of Blues where I got to see several artists such as Hey Violet, Tinashe, and Daya. It was an intimate radio concert to raise toys for the Boys and Girls Clubs in my hometown. Right now I don’t have any plans to see anyone in concert, but hopefully my favorite will have another tour for her next album and come back to San Diego because I miss her.
How many times have you seen Haley Reinhart live?
I’ve met Haley 3 times, but only saw her perform once with Postmodern Jukebox. The other 2 times I couldn’t actually see her live because she performed at the same 21 and over venue and I unfortunately was not 21 yet, which broke my heart. But I believe that everything happens for a reason. Even though I couldn’t see the PMJ show the first time, I took the chance of hopefully running into her outside the venue because I just really wanted to meet her. I waited 4 years to meet Haley and it was most definitely worth the wait. Our first meeting was everything I ever dreamed it would be and more. Haley is an actual angel and I’m truly blessed for the opportunities I had to see her.
Did you attend any shows on Haley’s recent U.S. Tour? If so, which ones?
I didn’t get to watch Haley’s show in my hometown for her first headlining tour because it was at a strictly 21+ venue and I was 20 at the time. I was crushed needless to say, but I didn’t let that stop me from trying to see her outside the venue and end up getting a little concert of my own. It was déjà vu because it was at the venue where I first met her when she joined PMJ on tour. Besides Haley’s love for guacamole, her favorite snack while on tour is black olives, so I bought her some and put them in a vintage Beatles lunchbox. She told me that she couldn’t wait to eat them in the most adorable way. I also gave her a white floral ring before at the PMJ concert I went to because she’s a flower child and she wore it on her “Better” tour. I try to put together thoughtful little gifts that I know Haley will love and I’d do anything just to make her smile. Serenading my favorite human was a dream come true and I consider myself so lucky to have such precious and unforgettable moments with Haley that I’ll always cherish.
What’s the furthest you’ve traveled to see a show?
The furthest I’ve traveled to see a show was when I saw Ben Rector on his tour. I went with my cousins and we had a great time. Concerts are the best when you get to experience them close to the stage. Ben had a song in the top AC radio countdown along with Haley’s cover of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” for a couple weeks in the beginning of 2016 and they also did a few radio gigs together. I thought that was pretty cool and loved that my favorite artists got to meet.
Tell us something about Haley Reinhart that a lot of other fans may not know?
A lot of other fans may not know that Haley is a hula-hoop champion. This was one of the first things I learned about her actually. She’s mentioned this a couple times in interviews that she’s done and also has shown her skills and amazing tricks in videos. I remember her saying that she can even hoop 9-10 hula hoops at a time! I love the fact that she included hula hooping in her projects like the “Listen Up!” photoshoot for her first album, “Show Me Your Moves” music video, and “Better” music video too.
If you could tell Haley Reinhart one thing, what would it be?
I’d want Haley to know that one of these days, when she’s touring worldwide and accepting a Grammy, I’m going to be proud that I was one of her OG Haliens. 6 years later and she still continues to amaze me. She has such a bright future ahead of her and she has so many people in her life supporting her. She’s the reason I believe in the goodness of people and inspires me to love myself exactly as I am. Because of Haley I’ve learned to take more chances in life and embrace the unknown. Even though performing in front of people gives me anxiety, I want her to always know that she’s the only person I’d be down to serenade with my ukulele. I hope she continues to dream big and follow her heart in whatever makes her happy in life because she deserves so much recognition. Happiness is loving and supporting a true star like Haley and in my eyes she is already a legend.
Do you stay in touch with other Haliens? Tell us how your mutual fandom has helped you connect with others.
Because of Haley, I’ve gotten to know Haliens from various ages around the world through Twitter. A lot of them travel far and wide to see Haley. We’ve been supporting Haley for more than half a decade now that we know one another by name. Haliens are the funniest and most genuine people. We can be crazy at times, but Haley still loves us no matter what and understands how dedicated we are. Not a lot of people are fortunate to see Haley than others, so some Haliens would share pictures or videos from when they see her. I want to thank Rachel aka Rachael Cloves for all the work she does at haleyreinhartnews.com and putting together the birthday videos Haliens made for Haley’s birthday these past few years. I also want to shoutout Anthony aka Tusk for trying his best to be at Haley’s shows and uploading videos on his YouTube channel where many people go to get their Haley fix. The fandom wouldn’t be the same without them. I consider Haliens my close friends and hope to meet more of them at a Haley shindig.
Haley Reinhart is currently recording her new studio album… any guesses as to the title of the album and what it will sound like?
Haley hasn’t officially announced the title of her next album yet, but “WHAT’S THAT SOUND?” is most likely the name of her third album. I am positive since that was the first thing she tweeted when she said that she’s been recording in the studio early January of this year. Also, she uses the hashtag, #whatsthatsound in almost every photo she posts on Instagram lately, right next to the other titles of her albums. Haley’s such a tease and it’s clues like that you can’t miss. Personally, I absolutely love the name and look forward to hearing more news about the album soon!
Who do you think will guest appear on the album’s tracks?
So far we know that both of Haley’s parents will be a part of her third album, which is very exciting because her dad, Harry Reinhart plays the guitar in some of her songs since her first album and he rocks at it. Just listen to his killer guitar solo in “I Belong to You”! Haley always wanted to get her mom, Patti Reinhart to do backup vocals and she made that happen like I knew she would. I have a good feeling that a “bearded wonder” whose name rhymes with bassy will guest appear on her album too… I don’t know if they recorded a cover or wrote an original song together, but I cannot wait to find out because I’m all about that Caley.
